Story Events, a creative agency based in Soho, London, has published its accounts for the 2016/17 financial year. The report shows a record of £3.46m in sales, up 59 per cent from the previous period. Running to its third year of operation, the company has reported profit before tax of £116,000.
CEO Dominique Gill (pictured) said these results tell the success of the company across its Story Bespoke agency, Venue Search London and trade show divisions. She told En that the trade show segment makes up 10 per cent of the annual business turnover.
“This is a people business and I am very proud of the commitment and excellent work delivered by every member of the Story team. We increased our staffing levels from 16 to 22 over the course of the year to ensure that our high service levels are maintained as our customer base grew,” Gill commented.
The Venue Search London division has just announced that it has reached £10m of brokered sales since its launch in January 2014.
Other highlights of the year included the launch of the Waitrose Drinks Festival, a £300,000 conference booking brokered by Venue Search London, and a record exhibitor and visitor numbers at the third edition of its January London Summer Event Show. Held at Banking Hall, the event attracted 882 visitors, a 17% record increase over the previous edition.
Gill predicted further growth in the current year, though at a lower rate than over the last 12 months. She explained: “Over the last 12 months the business strategy has been very focused on attracting new business, after gaining a large number of new clients we will be now focusing on retaining and developing both our people and our existing clients who have been at the heart of our growth and success to help maintain a stable growth.”
