Remembering Robin Rugg

by Ruth Carter

UBM Alumni are mourning the loss of a dear colleague, Robin Rugg, who had been the long-standing Facilities Management Assistant at both Blackfriars locations, and previously at the Docklands office.

Robin was universally respected and loved, the epitome of an Unsung Hero, never more expressed than by the reaction to his award of that title at the UBM Live Awards in 2018.

A stickler, quite rightly, for correct facilities processes and health and safety, he solved so many problems and managed countless office moves, often in the face of multiple ‘my show’s different’ challenges, with his usual unfazed, hangdog expression which belied a calm but resolute efficiency.

In reality he made us all feel that we were indeed different and that little favours were only done for each of us because we were special. He was the very best of us.

For those wishing to make a donation in his name, Robin’s family have chosen the British Heart Foundation which Robin had supported himself https://giftofhope.bhf.org.uk/in-memory/In-Memory-of-Robin-Rugg?donationpage=1#donWrap
