The UK Mixed Martial Arts Expo (MMA) is set to debut at Manchester’s EventCity on 20-21 July.
The inaugural event – expected to attract 15,000 visitors – will feature nutrition workshops, strength and conditioning seminars and will play host to the National Level Championship Grappling Competition as well as amateur and professional MMA competitions.
Not-for-profit medical project Safe MMA has been registered to the show so that every professional competitor will be medically cleared. Fighters’ post-fight medical examination results and advised suspensions will be submitted by a cage side doctor to the Safe MMA database.
Safe MMA representatives will also be in attendance at the exhibition over the course of the weekend, including international referee Marc Goddard.
“We are proud to have Safe MMA on board with UK MMA Expo,” said the show’s promotor Darren Sherlock.
“They are working hard to improve standards and safety for fighters which is something UK MMA Expo are also deeply passionate about.”
EventCity announced the recent installation of new Changing Places toilet facilities at the venue, the latest addition to the venue’s new £1.2m investment.
