MCM Expo is further expanding its sci-fi, videogames and comics event portfolio with the launch of MCM Ireland Comic Con.
The first international event in the Comic Con series will take place on 12-13 April 2014, at RDS, Dublin, following requests from fans to launch a show in Ireland.
“It’s great to be bringing the MCM Ireland Comic Con to my hometown,” said event co-organiser Bryan Cooney. “A lot of fans have been asking us when we were going to do a Dublin show, so we decided it was high time to take the MCM brand across the Irish Sea.”
MCM Ireland Comic Con will feature onstage panels, comic creators, costume competitions, retail stands and a host of special guests to be announced nearer the show.
The Irish edition follows the launch of MCM Scotland Comic Con earlier this year, joining the Manchester event which attracted a record high of 19,340 visitors (unaudited) in 2013. MCM Expo has extended the 2014 Manchester show to two days.
The organiser’s flagship London event attracted 70,200 visitors (unaudited) in 2012 and will use both sides of Excel for the first time, expanding its floor space from 25,000sqm to 34,000sqm in October this year.
