Forum goes hybrid but “nothing beats face to face”

by Joe Gallop

Forum Events & Media Group has held five live events and three virtual events over the past few weeks, creating over 4,000 face-to-face meetings.

Under Step 3 rules of 50% capacity, Forum ran its meet-the-buyer style events in a physical format by adapting the layout and implementing Covid-19 secure procedures.

Using Forum’s matching software, the hybrid model allowed both buyers and exhibitors to attend virtually or attend in person. Most of the delegates attended live and Forum said it received 98% attendance across the board.

Sarah Beall, MD of Forum and board member of the AEO, said: “It was so refreshing to see people meeting in person and enjoying the experience after such a long time being restricted in attending a live event.  Attendees are confident in attending live and want to meet face to face, create new relationships and do business. A step forward for the events industry.”

A spokesperson for The Lindhurst Group, which exhibited at the Interior Design and Architecture Summit (IDAS) in London last week, said: “Nothing beats face to face meetings – delighted to have been able to attend and to meet so many buyers with live projects. The flexible format of virtual was terrific, as it allowed buyers to attend if unforeseen circumstances prevented them attending live.”

Forum has another 25 live/hybrid events and one virtual planned for the rest of the year.
