Renowned ‘whistleblower’ Edward Snowden has been announced as a speaker at this year’s IP EXPO Europe, live via satellite to discuss the truth about privacy in a post Hacking Team world.
On 7 October at ExCeL London, visitors will hear from the former NSA employee, sharing his views on the changing nature of privacy and the implications of this on national security.
Bradley Maule-ffinch, IP EXPO Europe’s director of strategy, said: “Our security is increasingly under threat and, following recent events like the Hacking Team breach, there are fresh concerns about how safe we really are on the Web.
“It’s a global issue, one which was bought to the forefront of the news agenda by Edward Snowden in 2013. For that reason, we are very excited to welcome him to this year’s IP EXPO Europe and hear his views on the matter.”
Following the introduction of two new themes in 2014, focusing on data centre and cyber security, IP EXPO Europe has announced the introduction of three additional areas of focus for 2015 – Data Analytics Europe, DevOps Europe and Unified Communications Europe – incorporating six events under one roof for the first time.
Mark Steel, CEO of IP EXPO Europe, said: “2014 was an immensely successful year for IP EXPO Europe with a record number of attendees – over 13,000 across two days – not to mention an inspiring opening keynote from Sir Tim Berners-Lee.
“We are starting to see an ever-increasing volume of attendees from across Europe, due to the nature of the global brands exhibiting and the quality content and education on offer. This year, we will be welcoming prestigious new speakers and we are introducing a series of meet-ups for 2015, covering all key themes, to address the new generation of technologies and practices in the industry.”
The show will be held on 7-8 October 2015. Join the conversation #SnowdenSpeaks for more information.
