Steven Bartlett ‘so sorry’ to miss Retail Technology Show

by Joe Gallop

Dragons’ Den investor and CEO of Social Chain Steven Bartlett has pulled out of next week’s Retail Technology Show at Olympia London due to personal reasons, but promised to attend next year.

Nineteen Group’s event, which takes place from 26-27 April, will now be headlined by entrepreneur Sam Jones and British rap star Tinie Tempah.

Bartlett apologised for not being able to attend the show adding “events like this have changed my life over the years.”

He said: “I’m honestly gutted to be missing out on this. When I was told about the people that would be there and the context of the event, I was tremendously excited.

“I will be there next time, I promise you that,” he said.

Jones is also known for appearing on Dragons’ Den. In 2018  he successfully pitched his digital data business Gener8 on the show. Tinie Tempah is now also an investor in the business.

Their keynote session will explore:

  • The rise of the fast-growth tech start-up and its roadmap to a projected £1billion business by 2030
  • The changes to the digital landscape that will present new commercial opportunities to retailers and brands
  • The rise of NFTs and the impact of data privacy changes, both to consumers and to retailers looking to engage shoppers

The session will follow a keynote delivered by New Look chairman and ex-Sainsbury’s CEO Mike Coupe on day one and a talk by Ella Mills from Deliciously Ella on day two.
