Messe Frankfurt Saudi Arabia, organisers of Intersec Saudi Arabia, have announced the postponement of the upcoming edition of the show until October 2027. The event, which is focused on safety, security and fire protection issues, has ironically itself fallen victim to security concerns. It had been set to take place 16-18 November 2026 at the Riyadh Front Exhibition & Conference Center (RFECC).

Messe Frankfurt Group said the decision to postpone followed close monitoring of recent developments in Saudi Arabia and was taken in coordination with the venue, the local government partners, and the event’s local and international stakeholders.

Saudi Arabia has been attacked in recent weeks with ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as  drones launched by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels. The country’s airports have been a prime target and many flights have been cancelled.

Riham Sedik, the event’s director at Messe Frankfurt Middle East (MFME), commented: “This decision is a result of a careful review of the current situation and one that puts the safety and wellbeing of customers, partners, attendees, and teams first.”

He added that his team’s commitment “would always be to bring the industry together in a safe, accessible, and commercially valuable way, working closely with local authorities and partners. With the event only weeks away, the postponement will allow us to deliver the strongest possible experience for all participants next year.”

Nathan Waugh, portfolio director for security, technology and production at MFME, added: “While continuing to support our people, customers, and partners in Saudi Arabia, we remain equally committed to the international community that has supported the show over the years. Our focus is now on returning with an impactful event in 2027, reflecting the ambition of the Saudi market and the strength of the global Intersec brand.”
