Nathan Waugh has been named portfolio director for Messe Frankfurt Middle East.
He will be taking the lead on two major events – Intersec and Light + Intelligent Building Middle East. This follows a record-breaking 2025 edition for both events.
Waugh is an event industry veteran with over 20 years’ experience in the UAE and UK. With this new appointment, he will assume responsibility for driving growth across two prominent B2B platforms – safety, security, lighting and building technology. Most recently, he served as portfolio director at Capital Events (part of ADNEC Group).
Intersec is the world’s leading trade fair for security, safety and fire protection, attracting thousands of international exhibitors and government buyers across cybersecurity, policing, perimeter security and fire rescue sectors.
Light + Intelligent Building Middle East focuses on smart lighting, building automation and energy efficiency, serving as a hub for architects, developers, engineers, and tech providers across the region.
Intersec 2025 welcomed over 1,200 exhibitors and 47,000 visitors, while Light + Intelligent Building Middle East drew nearly 16,000 visitors – a 10% increase on the previous year. Both events will return in January 2026 to Dubai World Trade Centre.
CEO of Messe Frankfurt Middle East Ted Bloom said Waugh’s track record delivering sector-leading exhibitions will be “instrumental” in taking both platforms to new heights.
Waugh said his goal is to “create new opportunities, drive industry progress, and deliver exceptionally curated experiences” across both shows.
