Global association of the exhibition industry, UFI has announced economist and broadcaster Noreena Hertz as keynote speaker for its annual Global Congress, which runs 3-6 November in Rotterdam, Holland.
Hertz’s work looks at the fragmentation of our communities, showing how we are missing out on both casual and deeper human connections that used to be commonplace. Through her research she demonstrates how humans aren’t built for isolation, and how as a society we must focus on building connections between people.
Hertz was named by The Observer newspaper as “one of the world’s leading thinkers” and by Vogue magazine as “one of the world’s most inspiring women”. She is also a bestselling author and her books include: The Silent Takeover, The Debt Threat and Eyes Wide Open, all published in more than 20 countries. Her latest book is the international bestseller The Lonely Century – A Call to Reconnect.
A regular commentator in print globally, Hertz’s opinion pieces have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, The Financial Times, Die Zelt, El Pais, and The South China Morning Post. She has also appeared on TV around the world including on CBS’ This Morning, BBC’s Question Time, and NHK’s Global Debate and has created and hosted four television documentaries, as well as hosted her own show on the US’ largest radio network, Sirius XM. She has also served as the economics editor for the UK’s leading commercial television network, ITV.
Noreena has a PhD from Cambridge University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
In 2014 she moved to University College London where she is an Honorary Professor at the Institute for Global Prosperity.
