The Museum of London Docklands launched the latest addition to its venue portfolio, The Rum Store, on 17 July, welcoming clients, agents and press to an exclusive drinks reception on the docks of Canary Wharf. The event was designed to showcase the endless possibilities of the new space, housed in one of the oldest Georgian warehouses in Britain.
The Rum Store offers a blank canvas space featuring exposed brick walls and original pitch pine columns, while the terrace offers an area for a summer BBQ. Once home to 25,000 caskets of rum, The Rum Store will be able to host a variety of events for up to 200 guests.
As part of the launch event, guests were able to explore the new space while enjoying a range of food stations from the museum’s catering partner, CH&Co, as well as a selection of exclusive rum cocktails including a ‘Berry Daquiri’ and ‘Nelson’s Blood’, inspired by the venue itself.
Tours of the museum were also available courtesy of the experienced events team, and guests were also given access to the major exhibition, Secret Rivers.
Sarah McQueen, assistant head of commercial services at the Museum of London, commented: “We’re delighted to have The Rum Store back in our events offering at the Museum of London Docklands and can’t wait for guests to experience what this historic space has to offer. Our Nautical Nights summer parties are currently in full swing at the museum, and clients are now able to book the Rum Store as part of our Deck The Halls Christmas Package. It’s set to be a very exciting few months at the Museum of London Docklands!”
