The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) has appointed Ruth Bailey as an independent non-executive director and Peter Haggarty as director of development and infrastructure.
Bailey joins the SEC Board as the organisation develops plans for future investment and growth across the campus, which comprises the OVO Hydro, SEC Armadillo and SEC Centre.
She has more than 20 years’ experience in the civil engineering sector, having worked on infrastructure projects in Australia, Asia and the UK. Her background includes design, construction, project and programme management. Bailey joined WSP in June 2026 as deputy COO for UK and Ireland. She is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, a chartered structural engineer and a Leadership Fellow with the International Women’s Forum.
Bailey said: “The SEC is a vital part of Glasgow’s international events landscape, and I am excited to contribute to its next phase of growth. I look forward to working with the Board and leadership team to support the campus’s development, ensure sustainable investment, and help the SEC continue to deliver world-class experiences for clients, visitors, and the city alike.”
Haggarty joins the SEC from the University of Glasgow, where he served as executive director of estates. He holds qualifications in engineering and health and safety management and is a Fellow and former Chair of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, as well as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building.
Haggarty said: “The SEC is one of the most renowned events destinations in Europe and in the OVO Hydro and Armadillo, it has two buildings that have transformed the Glasgow skyline. I’m joining at what is an exciting time for the SEC and I’m looking forward to working with Dom and the wider team as we plan for its future development.”
In his new role, Haggarty will oversee infrastructure, development, facilities and compliance across the SEC campus. He is due to take up the position in July.
