Hundreds of event professionals have been logging onto a series of webinars called Ops in Lockdown during the pandemic.
Ops in Lockdown was created by Lou Kiwanuka, founder and MD of The Shaper Group. When Covid-19 took hold Kiwanuka used headline topics from the newly launched ‘The Operations Foundation’ course, announced back in February at International Confex, and created a weekly online training and community programme for operations professionals.
Ops in Lockdown has covered; Contractor Relationships with Adam Aston, Understanding the Challenges of Taking Your Content Online with David Stanley, Aztec Live, Overseas vs UK Ops with Verena Lester, Clarion Events, The Venue Dynamic with Sarah Elton-Wall, Olympia London, and The Big Contractor and Us with Jason Stead, GES.
Ops in Lockdown sessions saw up to 100 attendees logging on each week and it became a place for the industry to unite explained Kiwanuka. She added: “Since we launched our courses earlier this year we have been overwhelmed with positive support from all sectors of our industry who are looking to upskill themselves and their teams. With many now on furlough, or who perhaps have additional capacity, it seems only right that we have used this time effectively to ensure ongoing professional growth with the added outcome that the sessions have connected us throughout the period. It’s been a pleasure to host the Ops in Lockdown sessions with our community and I am looking forward to taking the best bits of Ops in Lockdown and placing them at the heart of The Ops Nest.”
Following feedback from around 500 subscribers, The Ops Nest will now be extended to welcome supplier and venue professionals who want to develop an understanding of event ops and logistics.
The Ops Nest’s training and mentorship programme officially launches in the first week of August and membership will be limited each month.
The final Ops in Lockdown session takes place on Tuesday 28 July. To find out more visit https://courses.opsshaper.uk/courses/the-ops-nest
