Farnborough International launches networking platform ahead of virtual event

by Saul Leese

The team behind Farnborough International Airshow have launched a networking feature for their new digital event called FIA Connect to be held next week, 20-24 July.

The new virtual networking tool allows visitors to the digital event to be able to complete a personal profile including a photo, search for companies to meet using category filters or a search function and request a video call or send a message.

FIA Connect also includes a conference programme and a Meet the Buyer facility, and now offers an opportunity to meet other visitors using the new networking feature.

Joe Muir, Farnborough International’s Aerospace commercial director, said: “We recognised it was important to be realistic about what could be successfully provided as part of FIA Connect. Networking is a major part of the Airshow and we hope that creating a platform to facilitate it will be of real value to the industry.

“Nothing quite compares with meeting face-to-face but during these challenging and unusual times enabling participants to converse easily is important as businesses look towards recovery and growth.”

FIA Connect starts on Monday 20 July with an industry leaders’ round table featuring the CEOs of Airbus, BAE Systems, Leonardo and Meggitt. A conference schedule includes government representatives including the Rt. Hon. Grant Schapps MP, Secretary of State for Transport.

There will also be Farnborough Friday Connect: a day focused on bringing STEM subjects to life and engaging young people in the wealth of career opportunities available throughout the industries represented.

FIA Connect replaces the Biannual Farnborough International Airshow normally held at Farnborough International.
