CloserStill has concluded its first edition of The Care Show, 12 months after acquiring the 20 year-old event from UBM.
Staying true to the manifesto the organiser released to the care profession when it acquired the event, the show saw a six per cent increase in audience and a rebook of 111 per cent.
Event manager Michael Corbett commented: “It’s been absolutely incredible, we went into the 2018 show with 10 per cent more exhibitors than we had last year, we have introduced Carer of the Month awards that transformed into a big Carer of the Year Award from the 12 monthly winners, we have lobbied government on behalf of our community with our #powerofcare campaign for more social care funding and by running the two events it has allowed us to launch a brand new Care2 magazine as a channel to really celebrate the positive news and hard work of the unsung heroes of social care.”
The conference programme across five conference theatres tackled the issues facing the UK’s strained social care system. Delegates heard from more than 150 speakers from across the social care sector including experts from further afield in the Europe who gave attendees solutions and ideas to help them protect the nation’s most vulnerable.
Corbett continued: “In a time where exhibitions are merging and closing seemingly every other month, we are absolutely delighted to transform a 20 year old show into an refreshed new event that the profession deserves and proving you really can teach an old dog, new tricks!”
The success of the event has also seen the United Kingdom Homecare Association (UKHCA) decide to run its annual conference within The Care Show 2019.
