On 30 April, Leeds Beckett University in Leeds will play host to the Business Visits & Events Focus North conference, with a theme of business benefits for the North of England through business visits and events.
The event will bring together event industry specialists, education experts, research groups, destination management organisations, event management agencies and venue operators in a half-day conference which will explore opportunities for the North to gain a larger share of the £42.3bn business visits and events industry.
Keynote presenters include Kerrin MacPhie, VisitBritain’s head of business events, Chris Skeith, the Business Visits & Events Partnership’s vice-chairman, Lucy McCombes and Steve Jones, School of Events, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Leeds Beckett University and other specialists from within the sector.
Organiser John Gallery (pictured) commented: “Business Visits & Events create more economic value than is recognised. Events are where business is actually done to create wealth, jobs and sustainability and are happening all the time, which, unlike a factory opening, does not get headlines. This event purposefully coincides with the Conference and Hospitality Show at the First Direct Arena Leeds to bring together senior leaders in the business tourism sector to draw attention to the opportunities and value that events can bring to an area.”
The conference is collaboration between Leeds Becket University School of Events, Tourism and Hospitality Management, the Business Visits & Events Partnership, the Tourism Society Yorkshire and the Conference and Hospitality Show, which is taking place on the same day at the city’s first direct arena.
