Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) is holding its sixth Connect Conference at the Radisson Blu Edwardian, Manchester, on 26 October with support from the Association of Event Venues (AEV) and AEV members.
The event exists to bring together events management students with event industry professionals over lunch, to give students the opportunity to learn from professionals how to get into their chosen genre of events and listen to their words of advice on how to help them stand out from the crowd.
Lucy Pittaway, senior lecturer in Events Management & Level 6 year manager at MMU welcomed the AEV’s support, saying: “It’s great news that the AEV have promoted this event to its members, and we are looking forward to welcoming several AEV members to the conference this month. Not only is this a great way for students to meet industry professionals and get advice, it provides the industry with some insight into who wants to be a part of it in the future.”
Alden Arnold, AEV project manager, added: “The nurturing and retention of young talent is a major focus of the industry at the moment, and the Connect Conference is a perfect example of industry and academia working in partnership to help the next generation of event professionals develop their potential and flourish in their careers. We didn’t hesitate in recommending the Connect Conference to our members.”
