Following the go-live of Horizon RFID at global technology delivery group One World Group’s London facility on 28 September, the organisations are beginning a phased rollout of the platform. It combines, they say, handheld and fixed RFID technology to support asset visibility and operational efficiency across international operations.
The rollout – initially across its London operation, with the intention of extending the platform to further international sites in phases – marks the first phase of a wider initiative to improve how equipment is identified, tracked and managed across One World Group’s operations.
For global rental businesses, managing equipment across multiple warehouses, locations, and customer projects presents a significant operational challenge, not least because assets are constantly moving between preparation areas, warehouses, customer sites, and returns.
Traditional processes often depend on individual barcode scans, manual checks, and time-consuming stock verification. One World Group says its investment in RFID reflects its wider focus on bringing technology and operational capabilities together to improve service delivery by capturing equipment movements efficiently and reflected them within the systems teams already use.
Horizon RFID approaches RFID implementation as an end-to-end operational solution, rather than simply introducing new scanning technology. It connects and manages RFID infrastructure while integrating with existing rental management and ERP systems, translating RFID reads into meaningful operational information without requiring businesses to replace their established software.
The planned rollout will also extend beyond handheld RFID devices to include fixed RFID infrastructure.
The next phase will introduce further automation at selected operational points, the company says. This is designed to reduce manual intervention and enable equipment movements to be captured more efficiently as part of everyday warehouse workflows.
