Beechwood Event Flooring debuted its fully sustainable carpet at clean tech event Innovation Zero.
More than 7,000sqm of Beechwood’s fully recyclable Rewind carpet was installed and later collected from Olympia London after the show on 24-5 May.
The carpet is made from 100% polypropylene, meaning it can be recycled with no waste product being left. The resulting pellets are strong and durable, so they can be moulded into a range of objects – continuing the life of the carpet long after it has left the event.
Beechwood said the new carpet is also created using 55% less CO2, 85% less energy and 100% less water and latex than traditional event carpet.
Luke Reed of Beechwood Event Flooring said: “This carpet heralds an important leap forward for the event carpet industry. We’ve already been recycling carpet for several years through our UK partners, but Beechwood Rewind allows for a much purer recycling process, with no by-products being wasted.”
