The Modular & Portable Building Association (MPBA) has expanded its partnership with STEP CONNECT2 to support a series of events focused on public sector infrastructure, including education and justice estates.
The collaboration includes continued involvement in Education Estates, which the MPBA has supported since 2019. The event, organised in partnership with the Department for Education, focuses on the funding, design, construction, maintenance and management of education facilities.
The MPBA also partnered with STEP CONNECT2 to launch the MMC Awards in 2023. The awards programme is now in its fourth year and includes 18 categories recognising modern methods of construction.
In 2026, the MPBA will support the Public Sector Estates Congress for the first time. It will also continue its involvement in Education Estates® in Focus, which addressed SEND and sustainability in its most recent programme. Estate management is expected to be included in the 2027 event.
The collaboration provides MPBA members with access to stakeholders across public sector infrastructure projects. Modular and portable building methods are being used in response to demand for shorter project timelines, cost management and workforce constraints.
