Farnborough International Airshow (FIA), one of the biggest global tradeshows for the international aerospace industry it to return next year on 18-22 July and will feature a new global initiative as part of its programme.

Building upon the last FIA in 2018 which saw deals worth $192bn (£144bn), the show will be unveiling the inaugural Aerospace Global Forum. The platform will provide global leaders with the opportunity to gather, discuss and interrogate issues impacting the world “through an aerospace lense”. The venue will announce more details on the forum and programme in early 2022.

The event will also see the expansion of its Smart Networking opportunities, the evolution of turnkey chalets and a new Space Zone, utilising the two new 2,000sqm sound stages built on the grounds of Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre.

Focusing on six themes related to the aerospace, aviation and defence industries, organisers said the show will focus on the future of the industry, sustainability, aerospace and defence thought leadership, space, future workforce and air travel.

Organisers are looking to reach the same numbers as 2018 which saw 80,000 visitors over the trade days. This year’s consumer weekend is no longer taking place as per the original 2020 plans before the event’s cancellation.

Farnborough International CEO Gareth Rogers said: “It has never been more vital to connect the leading pioneers and our event will enable the industry to harness the power of the sector to tackle the largest questions and develop tangible outcomes following global summits, such as COP26.

“With almost 90% of exhibition spaces sold and reserved already and more than two-thirds of exhibitors are from outside the UK, we are thrilled to see the eagerness of the industry to return to face-to-face events and work together to initiate global change.”
