Members of the Central Hall Westminster events team donned wellies and took up their litter-pickers to help clean up part of the River Thames on their annual charity day.
15 brave members of staff from the central London venue joined forces with staff from supplier partners, as well as a selection other venues and organisers. They joined the Great River Rescue on the banks of the Thames in Battersea.
The event was organised by BNC Event Shows in conjunction with charity Thames 21, which works with communities to improve rivers and canals for people and wildlife.
The event professionals unearthed a variety of items including a pair of false teeth, a vintage toothbrush, a shopping basket, and an entire cauliflower.
Paul Southern, Managing Director of Central Hall Westminster, who also took part in the event, commented: “We always like to do something different for our annual charity day but it needs to be meaningful. As an organisation which cares about the environment, and the first venue to introduce the carbon calculator for its events, this activity seemed apt.”
“As well as raising awareness of our local environment, it was also great fun paddling about in the mud and was certainly a different way to network among our fellow event professionals.”
