David Walmsley, senior crew chief at events crewing company Crewsaders, is one day away from completing the impressive challenge of 30 marathons in 30 days.

Today, 29 April, is day 29 of the challenge. Tomorrow, 30 April, he is due to complete the final marathon, ending with a public last-mile run in London followed by a fundraiser.

Supporters are invited to meet at 3.30pm on 30 April at Granary Square Footbridge, next to the Regent’s Canal towpath in Kings Cross. The final mile will follow the canal to Islington Green.

A finish line event will then run from 4pm to 8pm at Basils’ Bar at Fox on the Green, Islington Green.

The challenge is raising money for mental health charities including Mind, Scottish Action for Mental Health and Backup Tech, which supports people working in live events and entertainment.

Walmsley 30 miles run 2026

Walmsley’s role gives the campaign direct relevance to the sector. Crew chiefs and on-site operations staff often work long shifts, tight turnarounds and physically demanding schedules, especially during live builds and breakdowns.

Crewsaders said it is also developing its own wellbeing support for staff. Measures include on-site mental health first aiders, fatigue management systems and proactive wellbeing reporting.

The campaign has used a personal endurance challenge to highlight a wider issue across events and entertainment, where pressure, irregular hours and burnout remain common concerns.

By tomorrow evening, Walmsley is expected to have completed 30 marathons in 30 consecutive days.

Only one remains.
