GH Display is leading the way in sustainable event design, exemplified by their creation of the BCorp Pavilion at Confex 2025. By incorporating a circular economy approach, they focus on minimising waste, reusing resources, and reducing environmental impact in every stand they create.

Jenny Hodson, the company’s director, shares with EN that their sustainability commitment is setting new standards for eco-friendly design, resource efficiency, and reducing long-term environmental impact in the exhibition industry.

Reused exhibition wall panels: Built to last

GH Display’s exhibition wall panels are an excellent example of longevity and reuse. Made from FSC-certified timber, these panels are designed to last a minimum of 10 years. On average, each panel is used 50 times per year, with repairs made when necessary. This approach minimises waste and maximises the value of each component, making it a strong example of circular economy principles in action.

Sustainable graphics: Marine waste fabric

The graphics used on the stands are made from 100% recycled marine waste fabric, contributing to both sustainability and creativity. Some of the BCorp exhibitors have even asked to keep the graphics for future use. Those that are not reused are recycled through a partnership with Reconomy, ensuring nothing goes to waste.

Reuseable counters: Designed for durability

The counters on GH Display’s stands are also designed with longevity in mind. Built to last at least 10 years, the counters are made with Fibrapan Bio, a sustainable alternative to MDF. Fibrapan Bio is composed of 100% organic, biodegradable materials, many of which are byproducts from sawmills.

Unlike MDF, it contains no harmful glues or chemicals, making it a more eco-friendly option. Though it costs four times more than MDF, the long lifespan and ability to refurbish components as needed means the additional cost is negligible over time. If a part is damaged, it can be easily repaired or replaced, reducing waste and extending the life of the counters.

Expo flooring: Sustainable and accessible

The flooring used at exhibitions by GH Display is another example of their commitment to sustainability. Made from recycled plastics, the flooring has a minimum 10-year lifespan and is fully recyclable when it’s retired. Additionally, all raised flooring is designed with sloped edges to ensure wheelchair accessibility, making the stands inclusive and safe for all.

Recycling carpet and lighting

GH Display ensures all exhibition carpet is cleared of debris and recycled in partnership with their carpet suppliers. In addition, all lighting on the stands is reused from their hire stock, with a focus on low-energy LED lights, further reducing energy consumption and waste.

Solar-powered operations

GH Display’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond the exhibition floor. Their two-acre site is powered by 200 solar panels on the roof, with three large batteries to store energy for use over the weekend. This system allows them to rarely pull power from the grid and even send surplus energy back. When energy is sourced from the grid, GH Display ensures it comes from a supplier that provides renewable energy.

Green fleet: Electric and HVO vehicles

GH Display’s fleet has been transitioned to eco-friendly vehicles, including electric vans for smaller stand loads and box vans powered by HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil). HVO reduces CO2 emissions by 90% compared to traditional diesel, significantly lowering the carbon footprint of their operations.

Carbon calculations for transparent impact

To help exhibitors track and reduce their environmental impact, GH Display provides detailed carbon calculation reports for all stands they transport and install. This transparency allows clients to make informed decisions and work towards reducing their event-related carbon emissions.

A commitment to a circular future

By reusing materials, designing for durability, and minimising waste, the company are creating exhibition experiences that are not only functional and innovative but also responsible and environmentally friendly. With a strong focus on the circular economy, GH Display ensures that every event they support contributes to a positive environmental impact.
