TIMEWALK has opened at Immerse LDN at Excel Waterfront in London.

The new immersive attraction takes visitors through 12,000 years of human history. It combines large scale digital environments, sound, visual effects and storytelling.

Created by DEM Museums, the experience recreates ancient civilisations including Göbeklitepe, Babylon, Ancient Egypt, the Maya and Rapa Nui. Visitors move through full-scale environments rather than traditional gallery spaces.

The attraction uses archaeological and historical research alongside immersive technology. It also includes a 25-language audio guide, children’s storytelling, interactive exhibits, a hands-on archaeological dig and costumed historical characters.

TIMEWALK is the latest project from DEM Museums, which also created the Hagia Sophia and Ephesus Experience Museums. The company is also developing an immersive experience at Rome’s Colosseum.

Mehmet Uğur Esin, chairman of DEM Museums, said: “Drawing on 35 years of expertise in advanced visual and audio technologies, TIMEWALK brings the civilisations that shaped human history to audiences in the United Kingdom while marking the beginning of our long-term journey in this market.”

Eda Bildiricioglu, ceo of DEM Museums, added: “The core ambition of DEM Museums is to redefine how people learn history. DEM Museums is forging a new path in technology driven cultural storytelling and TIMEWALK promises a brand new experience for audiences, by physically stepping foot into the past and seeing 12,000 years of human history unfold and develop around them.”
