Olympia Events has appointed Richard Harris as technology director as the London venue continues its £1.3bn redevelopment.

Harris will lead technology strategy across the business, overseeing areas including IT operations, cybersecurity, connectivity and data systems. The role comes as Olympia prepares for a series of venue openings through 2026 and 2027, including a new theatre scheduled to open in early 2027.

The company said Harris will work across both operational systems and customer-facing technology. That includes tools and infrastructure used by organisers, exhibitors, visitors and internal teams, as Olympia reportedly pushes to become a more data-led business.

Harris brings more than 20 years’ experience across events, sport and ticketing.

Before joining Olympia Events, he was a director at Two Circles. He has also held senior technology roles with the Rugby Football Union, Rugby World Cup 2015, London 2012 Olympic Games and Wembley Stadium, where he led the technology delivery for the stadium’s opening.

Now, Harris will oversee Olympia’s core infrastructure, venue connectivity and security systems.

Olympia’s wider redevelopment includes a new international convention centre, a 3,800-capacity music venue, two hotels, hospitality space and 550,000sqft of offices.

The phased opening began in late 2025 and will continue through 2026 and 2027.
