Olympia Events has appointed Alex Lewis as chief operating officer. The move strengthens its leadership as the venue prepares for a £1.3bn redevelopment.
Lewis will oversee venue operations and support commercial growth. He will also help steer Olympia through its next phase, including a new international convention centre and private members’ house opening in 2026.
He brings 28 years of experience in live events, sport and hospitality. Most recently, he was director of operations at Surrey County Cricket Club, overseeing major growth at the Kia Oval. He previously managed catering operations at Ascot Racecourse and co-founded an events consultancy that supported global events such as the America’s Cup and the Volvo Ocean Race.
Andy O’Sullivan, CEO of Olympia Events, said: “This appointment comes at a defining moment in Olympia’s transformation as we transition from a historic events venue into a world-class cultural and entertainment destination. Alex’s leadership will be central to how we evolve our operations.”
Olympia’s wider redevelopment will complete in phases from late 2025. It includes hotels, restaurants, offices, bars and new cultural venues alongside the convention centre.
Lewis said: “It’s an absolute privilege to join Olympia Events at such an important stage in its journey. Olympia is set to become a truly iconic global destination, and this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to redefine how people experience live events and entertainment in London.”
He officially joined Olympia Events on 27 October 2025. The first phase will open in September 2025 with the Wetherby Pembridge senior school, followed by a new theatre in early 2027.
