Excel London has welcomed more than 500,000 sports fans and competitors over the past 12 months.
The increase in attendance has been driven by high-profile events launching at or relocating to the East London venue. HYROX recently extended its agreement with ExCeL, with its 2025 edition attracting 40,000 athletes and 30,000 spectators, making it the venue’s largest sporting event to date.
Excel also hosts events including Formula E, the T100 Triathlon, the London International Horse Show, Turf Games and World of Triathlon Live. Collectively, these events helped contribute an estimated £230 million to London’s economy.
This week, around 40,000 London Marathon participants are expected to visit the venue to collect materials related to their 2027 registrations.
Excel London senior account manager Sindri Hjartarson said, “In addition to our world-class facilities, versatility and unrivalled transport links, our team also focuses on supporting an event’s growth ambitions. For instance, HYROX’s debut in 2021 featured just 600 athletes compared to last year’s event which boasted some 40,000.”
