Richard Moorhouse, events director at the Great Yorkshire Events Centre (GYEC), has been elected to the board of the Association of Event Venues (AEV).
The GYEC, based on the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate, is a long-standing member of the AEV, a trade body representing venues in the UK and internationally. The Showground runs The Halls and The Pavilions, both owned by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, and hosts events including weddings, conferences, trade shows and the annual Great Yorkshire Show.
Following the AEV annual general meeting last week, the association confirmed Moorhouse’s appointment to its board.
Moorhouse said: “The Great Yorkshire Events Centre has benefitted hugely from membership of the AEV through the working groups, sharing of best practice, networking and attending the brilliant annual conference. I am honoured to have been elected to the Board and excited to bring my experience, ready to champion all member venues and help shape the future of the industry.”
Rachel Parker, AEV CEO, said: “I am delighted to welcome Richard to the board this year and am sure he will have plenty to bring to the table. I am looking forward to another productive year, starting with our annual conference being held on Friday 14 November at Excel London.”
