Informa’s long-running interior design expo, Decorex is ramping up its focus on sustainability for its 47th outing later this year.
Taking place at Olympia Events from 6-9 October, the four-day show has introduced Informa’s ‘Better Stands’ initiative to promote reusable structures and reduce waste. Informa is working with its customers to phase out all disposable stands at its EMEA events by the end of this year.
Decorex has also formed a ‘Sustainability Task Force’ (pictured) to reinforce sustainability values within the design industry and to encourage and support exhibitors to become more sustainable when exhibiting at the show.
The Decorex Sustainability Awards meanwhile will celebrate exhibitors demonstrating outstanding achievements in sustainability within the interiors industry. Four new award categories include the Planet Conscious, Social Change, Circularity, and Sustainable Innovation awards.
The 2024 edition of Decorex will also collaborate with The Green Room – a sustainability forum for interior brands. During the show, The Green Room will provide visitors with daily workshops and talks, exploring topics such as sourcing responsibly, calculating greenhouse gas emissions, minimising packaging and waste, adopting circularity, restoring nature and biodiversity, and the value of certifications.
As part of the Decorex Talks Programme for 2024, Interior Design Declares will be chairing daily panels covering topics such as ‘Creating an Effective Sustainability Plan’, ‘Solving the waste problem’ and ‘How to make sustainable choices when commissioning bespoke upholstery’. Interior Design Declares is part of Construction Declares, a global petition movement to inspire positive action in response to climate breakdown and biodiversity collapse.
