NEC hosts seven shows in six days

by Joe Gallop

It is a busy week for the NEC with seven trade shows taking place across six days at the Birmingham venue.

William Reed is hosting four events for food and drink retail audiences. Forecourt Show, Farm Shop & Deli, Food and Drink Expo and National Convenience Show will all take place from 25-27 April.

Also taking place this week is the January Furniture Show (24-27), Printwear & Promotion LIVE! (24-26) and Makers Central (30 April-1 May).

Catherine Penny, exhibition sales director, NEC Group, said: “Some of our shows were moved from earlier in the year, and I think it’s safe to say we’re experiencing an increasingly confident audience keen to get back to business at this point in the exhibitions calendar.”

Andrew Reed, managing director, events and exhibitions at William Reed, said “At William Reed we have had to take our customers on a journey that has involved moving the timeline five times, but we are excited to be back, at last.

“These retailers have experienced massive change over the last two years as the whole of trade and hospitality balance changed completely with lockdowns. Now the balance is swinging back as we are allowed to go out and the cost base for retailers has been hit by the increase of basic running costs etc.

“The exhibitors have been very loyal and supportive and are excited about getting back to the only real way of promoting their products to their audience, by being face to face and letting the customers taste and smell their finished products.

“Judging by the level of interest being shown by the retailers they too are desperate to get back out and do business face to face, and we are delighted to be able to do our part in facilitating that.”

Zoe Bonser, portfolio director, Clarion Retail, January Furniture Show, added: “With so many new brands joining us as well as a whole host of high profile speakers and inspirational content to be enjoyed, we’re in for a hugely successful and packed four days.”
