The organiser of MCM London Comic Con has revealed a further increase in visitor numbers for this year’s event.
MCM Expo Group said its flagship Comic Con event on 25-27 October drew a “record breaking” 88,000 (unaudited) visitors at Excel.
“The latest London Comic Con smashed the show’s previous high of 76,000 attendees back in May,” said MCM co-organiser Paul Miley. “The picture looks even better when you compare attendance at this October’s event to the same show last year, which saw just over 70,000 visitors – itself a record at the time.”
The show spanned both sides of Excel for the first time, expanding its floor space from 25,000sqm to 34,000sqm.
Highlights of MCM London Comic Con included a wide range of activities from the largest Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series in Europe, comic book creators from the UK, and the finals of the EuroCosplay Championship 2013.
“It is wonderful to have so many attendees and companies like Nintendo, E4, Warner Bros, Syfy, Namco Bandai, Manga Entertainment and Konami supporting our show,” said MCM co-organiser Bryan Cooney. “London Comic Con continues to grow year-on-year in terms of attendance, floor space and content, making the show an ever more attractive prospect for fans and exhibitors alike, and we’ll be returning in May with an even bigger event.”
MCM Expo has added Belfast and Dublin expos to its MCM Comic Con event portfolio.
