International exhibitions firm, dmg events, has appointed Matt Denton (pictured) as the new president for its Middle East, Asia and Africa division.
Denton first joined dmg world media in 1998 as head of marketing for the UK consumer shows. Following his departure in 2003, he held a marketing director role at Turret RAI and XPO Group, before becoming the UK group events director for Expomedia Group.
In December 2010, Denton rejoined dmg events Middle East and Asia as vice president and last year moved to dmg’s US operation as president, overseeing the global digital marketing portfolio with offices in the US, Japan, UK, Australia, New Zealand and India, before moving back to Dubai following his recent appointment.
In the UK, Cheshire-based creative events agency fresh Group has announced two key appointments to its new business and digital teams, following what the company calls “a year of success in new sectors” and new contracts in the pharma and automotive sectors.
Ruth Downs joins the new business team as business development manager, from McCann Ericsson, having previously worked at TRO, with clients including Diageo and Nike over a 12-year career.
The in-house digital team has been bolstered, meanwhile, with the appointment of Gemma Illidge, who joins from BJL as digital account director. She has worked with clients such as Asda and Aldi and, as a senior lead within the fresh digital team Gemma, will lead the strategy and creative elements of a variety of both standalone digital projects and the digital elements of full-service events and communications projects from pitch stage to live delivery.
