AMR International has today released its annual Top 20 exhibition organisers based on exhibition organising revenue for 2018 (Plus 2019 M&A).
The top four positions have not changed since the previous AMR Top 20 was issued in 2018. Informa Markets is still first, followed by Reed Exhibitions, then Messe Frankfurt and Clarion Events remains in fourth.
Messe Nüremberg benefitted from record financials in 2018, and was able to enter AMR’s Top 20. Tarsus has fallen out of the AMR Top 20, following it becoming private earlier in the year and a recent spate of acquisitions.
The Executive Chairman of AMR International Denzil Rankine said, “Over the past year, industry consolidation at the top has continued with Reed Exhibitions acquiring Mack Brooks early 2019, bringing it closer to Informa Markets. ITE has integrated Ascential Events and rebranded as Hyve Group.”
“Transaction multiples are currently high, and we expect continuing M&A as many private equity firms are keen to enter the exhibitions market.”
The AMR Top 20 enables exhibition organisers to see how they rank in the global events market, as well as enabling them to track any shifts in market share, especially ahead of the financial reporting cycle.
The ranking aims to present a pure view of organising by removing exhibition organiser revenues from venue rental and service revenues. Organisers are ranked on the latest fully reported year combined with pro-forma revenues of acquisitions.
