Hotel approved for EC&O

Think Developments and the Earls Court and Olympia Group’s application for a 259-room hotel next to the Olympia exhibition centre has been approved by the secretary of state, John Denham.

“We note the decision and hope that the development can contribute to the existing facilities for visitors to Olympia,” says commercial director for EC&O, Anna Golden. “The development land is presently un-used and therefore the development will have no impact on the present operations of the exhibition centre.

“Moreover, it will enhance the accommodation on offer for visitors to Olympia,” she adds.

The planned development was approved by the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and London’s Mayor Boris Johnson in September 2008, but was subsequently called in for a public inquiry in July.

Denham said in a statement that it would be sustainable and well-located, complementing the exhibition centre.
