EN talks to Samuel Bates and Michael Rossi, MD and commercial director at Top British Events about their new show Great Britain Live.

Great Britain Live, ‘celebrating all things British’, is the brainchild of Samuel Bates and is expected to attract 40,000 visitors for its launch on 30 October – 1 November at Ricoh Arena, Coventry.

Bates, who has launched his show’s campaign by offering emergency services staff free tickets, explains that now is the time to create a new British show.

He said: “The experience at any event is everything. It always has been, but it’s often undervalued or passes us by, which is incredibly unfortunate. Over the years Britain has experienced a variety of milestones, most recently our departure from the European Union.

“We felt more so now than ever that it is time for us to unite as a nation, celebrate all that is great about Britain, and prepare for the road ahead and what better way than to introduce a uniquely British event to showcase the brilliance of Britain.”

Visitors to the event are expectedm to ‘experience a world of Britishness’ including luxury and high street shopping, live shows, inspirational masterclasses, demonstrations, catwalk presentations, a line-up of celebrity guests and ‘hands-on’ advice from industry experts. There are seven lifestyle sections including; The Great British Food Hall, British Fashion & Beauty including Make It British dedicated to crafting and up-cycling, Britain Outdoors, British Home and Accessories, British Shopping, and A Guide to Sustainable Britain.

Michael Rossi, commercial director, said: “In these uncertain times it feels strange to be announcing this new event but with a dateline that we feel will work, we’re anticipating that this will be a time when the British public are going to be eager to celebrate our Britishness, our culture and the hopeful return to our way of life.

“Our aim is to create one of the greatest shows to launch in years; to help get Britain moving, to celebrate
and showcase British creativity, passion, and businesses – large or small. We believe that come October/November we will be ready to get back to business and explore avenues to regenerate and re-build. Events such as Great Britain Live are going to be more important than ever to get our beautiful country into recovery. People will want to eat and buy British produce, support local businesses, and celebrate British crafts and creativity.

“Imagine all your favourite things in one incredible venue: a spectacle and a celebration of modern and heritage Britishness. With its 150-year history we are incredibly proud to work with Wasps and to host the event at their
home ground, the Ricoh Arena.”

The event will also feature areas including Britain’s best-known street which will be re-created with its own British Inn, corner shop, butcher and salon. The Great British Food Stage will welcome top celebrity chefs using produce sourced locally from British farmers. Celebrity masterclasses and workshops showcasing food and lifestyle trends from nutritional advice and veganism, to how to eat and shop sustainably, and the cleaning hacks from the most famous cleaning gurus. It will also feature The Great British Runway with five catwalk shows a day.

Visitors can stop by the Toni & Guy hair salon and be able to recharge at The Great British Inn and The Gin & Fizz Club. The event features Britain Outdoors, a series of garden studios. There will also be outdoor leisure activities, the best British breaks, motoring, and sporting activities – some of which will be hosted by Wasps.
