Construction work on the new exhibition centre at Farnborough International has reached its halfway stage. The venue, on track for it’s opening in February next year, is set to host the Southern Manufacturing exhibition, which is scheduled to run from 6-8 February.
Upon completion, the venue in Hampshire will have a total of 20,000 sq m flexible event space including a 12,500 sq m exhibition hall.
Commenting on the project, Michael Watton, venue director, said: “The Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre will have innovative and future-proof technology throughout the building, with unbeatable WiFi capability with superfast speeds, allowing an impressive 50,000 devices to connect simultaneously.”
Watton pointed out that the new capacity would make the venue one of the largest in the south east of England. “The largest of the conference suites will hold up to 900 theatre style. The exhibition halls are flexible, blank canvas spaces, that can hold up to 10,000 guests. There will also be a total of 3,500 free car parking spaces on site.”
The project, cost of £30m, has been funded through a unique consortium consisting of Enterprise M3, Hampshire County Council, Rushmoor Borough Council and Barclays.
Watton told EN that a number of trade shows have already signed contract with Farnborough International for hosting events in the 2018-2019 period.
