Events Industry Alliance says chancellor’s support measures “hugely disappointing”

by Stuart Wood

The Events Industry Alliance has released a joint statement in response to Rishi Sunak’s announcement of further support measures for businesses this afternoon.

The statement was issued by Chris Skeith, Chief Executive of the Association of Events Organisers, on behalf of AEO and the EIA.

It reads: “It is hugely disappointing that the Chancellor has yet again failed to support the UK exhibitions industry, which has been subject to a nationwide closure since March and now faces catastrophic job losses, with over 90,000 people expected to be made redundant in the coming weeks.

“We urge the chancellor to consider our proposals for targeted time-limited support for the exhibitions sector, which will preserve jobs and capabilities and will help the sector drive the UK’s economic recovery wen the time is right to resume events.”
