The Event Services and Suppliers Association (ESSA) has announced that Marilyn Mahieu, Sharika Yuen, and Jake Tatlow, have all joined the ESSA Future Focus Board as the newest members.
Comprised of young industry professionals, the ESSA Future Focus Board has autonomy in its decision making and spending and its initial remit was to devise strategies, campaigns and initiatives to promote careers in the event industry.
Andrew Harrison, ESSA director, welcomed Mahieu, Tatlow and Yuen, saying: “I’m very happy to welcome Marilyn, Sharika and Jake to the ESSA Future Focus Board, and I’m confident that their insights and experiences will be positive additions to the work of the group.”
Mahieu, international sales manager at Aluvision, was delighted to be joining the board, commenting: “I am excited to be joining the ESSA Future Focus Board because it is important to raise awareness amongst young people about what our industry has to offer. Attracting and nurturing young talent is key for the growth of every company. I am glad to be part of a group of like-minded people on a mission to have a positive impact on the future of the exhibitions and event industry.”
Tatlow senior sales executive at Expo Floors, added: “I’m pleased to have been accepted onto the ESSA Future Focus Board because I believe it offers an essential forum for young people in the industry to shape the future of events and exhibitions.”
Yuen, general manager of support services at The Event & Exhibition Partnership, outlined her plans, saying: “I want to help promote the event industry to young people as a real career option, so I am proud to have been accepted onto the ESSA Future Focus Board. I hope to absorb knowledge and skill from other passionate industry professionals and incorporate viable programs to support, develop and retain young workers.”
