Demerger Upper Street Events gives greater autonomy

by EN

Upper Street Events becomes a limited company today following a corporate reorganisation of the Business Design Centre Group.

The organiser of trade and consumer exhibitions recorded a 25 per cent increase in profits for 2008/2009 following the acquisition of both Move It and The Language Show in 2008, as well the launch of Gadget Show Live in 2009.

Managing director Paul Byrom welcomes the move. “The demerger is the final stamp of us having the total backing of our shareholders to run the business as a stand alone event organiser. That’s our singular mission,” he says.

The current shareholders of the Business Design Centre Group remain the shareholders of Upper Street Events, but the demerger means the organiser will have its own board of directors and therefore greater autonomy.

The company plans to continue to grow expand through organic growth, new launches and acquisitions
