The Manchester Pet Show has announced that The Budgerigar Society will be exhibiting in one of its four animal zones, with society ambassador Geoff Capes lending his support.
The two-time World’s Strongest Man and double Commonwealth shot putt champion will be helping to highlight more than 30 breeds of budgie at the show at EventCity on 7-8 September.
“We are delighted to be part of Manchester’s first Pet Show and can’t wait to meet bird lovers of the North to share our passion for budgerigars, and to have the support of an internationally renowned athlete such as Geoff Capes is amazing,” said Mat Ackers of The Budgerigar Society.
Other activities include the opportunity to feed an array of animals, while The Kennel Club, will have more than 20 different breeds of Pedigree dogs on show and has exclusively announced plans to host the regional heat of Scruffts live at the show.
Carrie Mosley, Manchester Pet Show director said the reaction to the inaugural event was positive.
“Despite being a first year show, the passionate pet owners in the North are proving to be an incredibly attractive offering for the pet industry to directly target through this event,” said Mosley.
“The main objectives of the event are to offer fun and engaging content to a family audience, creating a weekend to remember for all. Our ethos is to offer extensive information and education on animal care and welfare to all pet owners, seasoned and novice alike.”
