BCD Meetings and Events (BCD M&E) will bring all acquisitions under one name from January 2019, which includes Grass Roots Meetings & Events.

The Strategic Meetings Management and Delegate Management turnover of the UK business increased from £8.9 million to £9.3 million for the year ending 31 December 2017. Including the UK and Switzerland, which has been managed from the UK, the turnover has grown with 10% whereas EBITDA doubled.
David Taylor managing director Grass Roots commented: “Our final year of trading as Grass Roots M&E has been enormously encouraging and successful on a number of different levels, turnover has increased and both staff and client retention has been exceptional which is incredibly positive. Moving forward I’m very excited about integrating with BCD M&E and I am not alone, I see this positivity throughout the business and speaking to clients across the globe they’re also enthusiastic about what we can now deliver for them.
“On a people front I’m enormously proud of how we’ve brought our cultures together too, from day one our people have been working with BCD M&E colleagues and are now aligned and integrating across the business. Senior management from GR M&E have moved in to important roles in BCD M&E with Sue Massey becoming VP of Sales & Account Management, Savva Hadji Savva taking a Managing Director & VP role in the Global Strategic Development team, Julie Yorke to operationally lead Accommodation and Delegate Management Services, Andy Cartwright to lead EMEA Product development, whilst I am delighted to lead Sales & Marketing across EMEA.”
The acquisition of Grass Roots M&E provides BCD Meetings and Events an even wider reach across the globe and enhances BCD Meeting and Events’ commitment to delivering client-centric solutions. Both organisations share a complementary client base as well as similar cultures and values, meaning the integration process has enabled greater personal growth and development for the 1,450 plus global employees.
Geert Jan Jongeneel (pictured), global CFO & managing director EMEA at BCD Meetings and Events added: “The Grass Roots acquisition supports BCD Meetings and Events’ strategy of providing tailored products and services designed to deliver on the exacting needs of our broad client base. We’ve placed a focus on offering innovative global technology solutions to our new joint client base and on expanding integrated delegate management solutions, thereby providing a truly integrated end-to-end solution to support clients. Over the last 12 months we have transitioned the two organisations, learning best practices from each other and we are now very excited at the new opportunities that our one voice brings for 2019 and beyond.”
