Andrew Walmsley has been announced as Exhibition News’ (EN) new portfolio director, publisher Mash Media has confirmed. He will also take responsibility for Digital Event News its associated events.
Walmsley has more than 20 years’ experience managing large events sales teams, having most recently held senior roles at Marcus Evans and Euromoney Institutional Investor.
“With my background in events it felt the natural move to join a company which is stitched in the fabric of our industry and joining at a time where we can play such a pivotal part in supporting the market as we emerge from the pandemic, for me, was important,” said Walmsley.
“The importance Mash Media plays as the information hub for the industry was a key reason why I was attracted to the role and a personal thank you to Duncan Siegle and Julian and Liz Agostini for putting their faith in me early on in a position where I can help Mash Media grow, cement its position as the leading voice of our industry and play my own small part in working with our clients and peers alike in helping put the events industry back where it needs to be,” he added.
Mash Media’s publishing director Duncan Siegle added: “EN was one of Mash Media’s first ever portfolios and dates back to 1995, and it’s been a privilege to be part of its huge success. Thanks to the team, including Martin Fullard, who have seen to it that 62% of all exhibition organisers in the UK are now kept up to date through the magazines and their associated events. I look forward to seeing what new ideas Andrew will bring to the portfolio.”
The EN Awards will take place on 30 July and tables and individual tickets are still available for purchase here.
On uniting the industry, Siegle added: “It’s never been more important for us to come together as a community and there is no better way to recognise the hard work of your teams by thanking them with a place at the industry’s version of the Oscars, this will be a night to remember and I look forward to seeing many of you in person and introducing you to Andrew.”
