VOS Media’s chief has labelled the co-location of its Outdoor Show and launch London Bike Show with the London International Boat Show a success, after securing a 70 per cent exhibitor rebook rate.
VOS Media MD Damian Norman said pure visitors to the Outdoor Show and London Bike Show this year reached 30,386. The two shows were held alongside the London Boat Show at Excel London for the first time this January.
According to a survey of 1,000 London Boat Show visitors, 63 per cent also said they crossed over to the two VOS events, lifting estimated total attendance by another 39,000, Norman claimed. In contrast, the standalone Outdoor Shows at The NEC in 2010 attracted 30,222 visitors.
Of VOS’s 310 total exhibitors, 85 booked for the Bike Show and 225 for the Outdoors Show. Norman said the majority had rebooked on the show floor.
“We lost some of the exhibitors moving from Birmingham, but picked up people interested in participating in a London show,” he said. “We doubled our attendance in a year with the co-location and having a good show partner.”
The Outdoor Show relocated to Excel London and from a March to January timeslot in order to co-locate with the London International Boat Show. Simultaneously, VOS announced the launch of a new Bike Show. As a result of the move, 80 per cent of this year’s visitors were new to the Outdoors Show, Norman said.
VOS and London International Boat Show have committed to a three-year partnership at Excel London. Norman said his plans for the 2012 Outdoors Show included more focus on free information seminars, photography, food and active travel. A benefit of running alongside the London Boat Show was being able to take advantage of its dedicated water sports feature pool, he added.
