Southwater Event Group (SEG), the owner of The International Centre, Telford has teamed up with Bouygues Development to consider how to make the most of its land holdings.
Working with Bouygues Development, the venue’s management team will consider how to move forward once the next phase of the multi-million pound Southwater development is completed, with the aim of securing the best possible future for both the venue and the destination as a whole.
Southwater Event Group already has planning permission to expand The International Centre still further, and to build another hotel on site. They already have two hotels adjacent to the venue and one just minutes away.
SEG chief executive Tom Gray said: “Work on the second phase of the development will begin later this year to bring even more bars and restaurants, as well as residential apartments and retail opportunities, soit’s vital that we have a clear picture of how our venue and our land dovetails with the plans.
“By working with such an experienced property development company, we believe we can set out a masterplan that will ensure The International Centre, our hotels, and our facilities continue to grow and yet complement the new leisure attractions around us.”
Bouygues Development has offices and sites across the UK, and is supported by the Bouygues Group which operates in over 80 countries across the world, dealing with construction, civil works, energy, services, telecommunications and media.
Managing director Nicolas Guerin said: “We are very pleased to be working so closely with Southwater Event Group as they are a truly progressive organisation clearly committed to delivering the very best facilities to their visitors and event organisers, and to the local community.
“With our experience, we will help the group to consider all the options available to them, and create a plan that will take their venue and the surrounding area forward into the next phase of the destination’s growth with confidence.”
The Association of Event Venues has announced that its 2014 annual general meeting will be held on 10 September at the International Centre, Telford.
