Upper Street Events and Love Productions have joined forces to launch The Great British Sewing Bee Live, a new event for consumers with a passion for dressmaking, tailoring, fashion and textiles.
The Great British Sewing Bee Live draws on the appeal of the popular TV show with a 1,200 seat Super Theatre experience hosted by Sewing Bee BBC Children in Need Celebrity Special host Jenny Éclair. TV judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young will be sharing some of their top tailoring and dressmaking tips and offering a unique glimpse behind the scenes of the Sewing Bee.
GBSB contestants and top UK sewing tutors will host over 250 workshops and demonstrations with content for beginners to professionals, and there will be a gallery of stand-out garments from the programme. Visitors can also enjoy a dressmaking drop-in clinic, a dressmaking fashion catwalk by the world’s leading pattern companies, an exhibition by the Fashion and Textiles Museum celebrating the 140th anniversary of Liberty, garment and vintage galleries and an extensive retail experience with over 150 dressmaking and sewing suppliers.
Sally Bent, event director for The Great British Sewing Bee Live at Upper Street Events said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Love Productions to launch this exciting new event which brings the hugely popular TV show alive. With Upper Street Events’ proven track record and heritage in organising successful live events that attract tens of thousands of textile craft enthusiasts every year, we’re the perfect team. There is no other event in the market dedicated solely to dressmaking and handmade fashion and we can’t wait to open the show at ExCel this September.”
Esme Young (pictured right), judge on The Great British Sewing Bee, added: “Whether you’re a professional tailor or hobby dressmaker, fashion student or vintage fan, there’s something for everyone with a love of sewing, and even complete beginners keen to give it a go. We hope visitors will leave the show inspired and full of ideas for their next dressmaking project. ”
The new show will take place at ExCel London on 21-24 September 2017.
