Tattoo Tea Party returns to Manchester

by EN

A twelve-piece ukulele band, comedy stand-up show and a hula hoop burlesque entertainer are only some of the attractions at this year’s Tattoo Tea Party at EventCity.

The ‘ink-credible’ tattoo convention is set to return to Manchester on 1-2 March with more than 250 exhibitors and tattoo artists from the UK and Ireland, up from 150 in 2013.

“We aim to delve into the multicultural melting pot of the UK tattoo scene and to recognise and showcase the very best art those tattooing on these shores have to offer,” said a spokesman from the event. “Honouring the past and celebrating the present is the theme of this tattoo show.”

Hula hoop burlesque entertainer Shir Madness will perform hula with fire, LED and an assortment of moves. The convention will also feature bumper cars, an alternative market, bars and food.

An awards ceremony will take place on both days for the best tattoos and a fancy dress competition. This year’s themes are: Sideshow, Carnival, Freak, Burlesque, Steampunk and Circus, where the winner will receive £100 and a Golden Ticket giving them free entry to the show for life.

Last year’s event attracted around 4,750 tattoo fans (unaudited).

Meanwhile, Harrogate International Centre’s (HIC) sales manager Rebecca Turnbull has agreed to have her first tattoo at Tattoo Royale 2014.
