Exhibition organiser Legend, whose shows include Retail Business Technology Expo, Retail Design Expo, Retail Design World and Essential Retail, has appointed Stephen Robertson as a board consultant.
Robertson has 20 years of senior experience in the retail industry. His previous roles include seven years as marketing director at B&Q before leading the acquisition of Screwfix Direct which he then chaired.
Subsequently, he served on the boards of WH Smith and Woolworths, and went onto become Director General of the British Retail Consortium for five years.
In addition to his role at Legend, Robertson currently serves as chairman of not-for-profit business services organisation Business West, non-executive director of the Timpson Group, non-executive director at Hargreaves Lansdown and retail specialist Clipper Logistics.
Robertson said: “The retail industry is going through such a period of dramatic change that it’s a really critical time to join a company that is embracing this state of flux and delivering solutions to retailers, from events to retail insights, that will make a beneficial impact to a retailers business.”
Legend expanded its team earlier this month, with Matt Bradley promoted to event director and Delia Manole joining the sales department as senior sales executive.
Legend CEO John Bednall said: “We are experiencing dramatic growth, including a number of new product launches, and in addition to Stephen we have recently expanded the Legend team, with a number of very talented new staff.”
