Sneaker and streetwear event to launch at SEC

by Nicola Macdonald

A brand-new sneaker and streetwear event is set to launch in Glasgow in 2019 at the Scottish Event Campus.

Urbuhn Avenue, will welcome 4,000 visitors to the event – a one-stop-shop for streetwear, sneaker and music fans – on the 6 April. The event will feature over 150 brands under one roof, giving visitors a unique opportunity to explore and purchase the latest sneakers, streetwear, accessories and more.

Founder Megan Burns, who has previously worked with Brand Events on Ignition Festival of Motoring and later with QD Events, told EN: “I’ve always been a huge fan of sneakers and streetwear myself – following and purchasing the latest releases and watching multiple streetwear brands grow from nothing over the past 12 months.

“I started doing market research around 12 months ago with the idea to combine my passion with my career. Now is the right time for me to take the next step and contribute something unique to the industry. I’m a big believer in experience. Not just when visitors and exhibitors are onsite but before they even step through the doors, so that will be a big focus for me.”

Urbuhn Avenue will feature a number of exclusive areas, including a Graffiti District where visitors can try their hand and witness real artists at work, and Limited Edition Boulevard – which will bring a curated collection of rare trainers to the city.

Fans will also get the chance to trade and buy sneakers from some of the largest collectors in the UK and join the show’s Wall of Fame through the Photo Drop Zone with professional photographer, Ian Barclay.

Burns continued: “We’re really proud to be hosting Urbuhn Avenue in Glasgow at Scotland’s national event venue. Complex magazine rated Glasgow as the sixth most underrated city in the world in the sneakers market and huge industry brands like Vogue, Elle and GQ often seek inspiration from here. Some of the sneaker stores in Glasgow are amongst the best in the UK, giving fans the chance to shop exclusive lines from the biggest brands, so the market is definitely flourishing here!

“We’re looking to do something different – this isn’t your regular expo. There’s already been an overwhelmingly positive response and we still have some exciting announcements up our sleeves. It will be the ultimate day out for any sneaker, streetwear or graffiti enthusiast.”

Urbuhn Avenue will open on the 6 April 2019 at the SEC.
