The Wing, Silverstone’s state-of-the-art event, conference and exhibition facility, has got off to a fast start in its first full year of operation, according to its management team.
In 2012, The Wing has attracted more than 120 new clients from across the exhibition, conference, creative and public event sectors.
The venue, situated in the heart of the world famous Grand Prix circuit, has played host to global brands including Apple, Red Bull, Coca-Cola, Tesco, Sony, Honda, Hewlett Packard, Mercedes and Nissan.
Exhibition News hosted its first Race Day at the venue in November.
“The Wing’s blank canvas event halls and convenient location, combined with Silverstone’s prestigious heritage, have been strong factors in attracting clients from a vast pool of industries,” said Silverstone Wing sales manager Daniel Whittemore. “While The Wing has hosted multiple indoor and outdoor automotive events, some may be surprised to learn that the majority of organisations utilising the flexible event spaces in the venue come fromother sectors and industries.”
The Wing was shortlisted as the ‘Venue of the Year’ by the Association of Event Organisers (AEO) in 2012.
“We are delighted by the industry’s response to The Wing,” said Silverstone Circuits MD Richard Phillips. “We already have a high percentage of repeat bookings, as well as some new clients booked in for next year, so we must be doing something right. We are extremely proud of the successes we have achieved so far and, following the triumphs of 2012, we will continue to develop as a venue and as a destination in 2013.”
